Despite detractors like the Washington Post's resident nitwit "fact checker," Glenn Kessler, trying to cast doubts on a perfectly believable story, the Ohio case of the 10-year-old girl who was raped and had to cross state lines into Indiana for an abortion is true. For reasons of confidentiality, the victim's identity is shielded from the public, but the alleged perpetrator, Gershon Fuentes, 27, has not just been charged with the rape of a minor and is in jail on a two-million-dollar bond, he has also admitted to raping the girl more than once.
But according to the antiabortion nutcases, 10-year-old girls cannot get pregnant, and even if they could, they still have to carry the pregnancy to term. It is the curse of the female sex no matter what, that she bear babies. That is all she is good for.
Anyway, the case received attention right after the idiotic Dobbs case came down from the USSC. Ohio had a trigger law that went into effect as soon as the case was rendered, making abortion illegal after six weeks under the fable that there is a "heartbeat" in a fetus or embryo that young (this is not the case). This girl was just a couple of days along after the cutoff, so arrangements were made to take her across state lines into Indiana. An obgyn there named Caitlyn Bernard had made the case public, and, try as Kessler did to cast doubt on her story because of her being an abortion rights activist, she had no reason to lie at all.
After all, 10-year-olds can and do become pregnant. Take a look at this Wikipedia list of "youngest mothers" for reference. This won't stop the antiabortion nutcases from trying to destroy women's rights because they don't think women are human, including the handmaidens who support the antiabortion b.s.
Snip:
Huhn testified that detectives spoke to Fuentes, through an interpreter, and Fuentes admitted to having sexual contact with the girl. An interpreter was also used during Wednesday's hearing.
The 10-year-old also told police Fuentes was the father of the pregnancy, Huhn testified. Meyer said the girl had just turned 10 recently, meaning she was likely impregnated at 9 years old.
Clark Torbett, an attorney with the Franklin County Public Defender’s office, said it was unconstitutional to hold Fuentes without bond, especially with DNA confirmation of the pregnancy’s father still pending.
He said Fuentes had lived in Columbus for the last seven years and had a steady job at a café. He also had an address where he could live that was not at the same location as the 10-year-old.
The article notes Fuentes could spend the rest of his life in prison. Sexual predators are rarely if ever "cured" of their predation. He needs to be removed from society.
